Come in here and make yourselves comfortable :)
*passes out classy teas and vodka shots*
My friends and I are thinking about going to Los Angeles for Memorial Day Weekend, and just had some questions.
1. For hotels, where should we stay away from?
1a. Also, what area would be closest to "everything" or is a rental a MUST?
2. Any events that will be going on? Places to be?
3. Feel free to add anything else that you think will help

Are you coming just for the weekend? What are the main things you want to do? Will you be renting a car, have a driver, or rather take public transport? Are y'all cheap or willing to spend?

LA is kinda boring if you come not already knowing what you're going to do, imo. If I were you, I'd stay in the mid-city/West Hollywood/Hollywood area just because it's always busy, but it's very expensive. I'd suggest beach cities, but they're also expensive and I think you'd have a tougher time getting around.
There's should be several parties that you could attend that weekend, but if you're looking for other things, I'd look on groupon or something.

We will be there Friday-Monday
We're going there to celebrate a friends graduation. So we were thinking night clubs, shopping, water sports, etc, but we're open to anything really
Not sure about transportation yet. I'd rather not have to take public transportation. Wasnt sure if Cali would be like Vegas where everything is in one place Lol. If not, how is parking in the area?
It's a group, some are willing others aren't , hopefully they will drop out before the trip I'd say something in the middle would work as far as spending goes.

Everything is pretty much spread out, so you're gonna need a rental car and extra money for parking.
Water sports as in beaches or water parks? All of the (good) water parks are at least a 30-45 min drive away from the city, and the beaches are going to be packed that weekend, so my advice is to pick one and get there early.
As for the shopping, I still suggest mid-city/WeHo. It's expensive, but you'll find nice things in various boutiques.
If you're in to people watching and dont mind drunk homeless men hitting on you, the smell of smoke (cigs and mj) or random people pushing their CDs in your face, go down to Venice Beach or Hollywood and Highland.

Manhattan Beach is nice, Santa Monica is nicer (imo) and your pockets will notice. Stay AWAY from Dockweiler Beach, you will find nothing but trash and broken dreams. If y'all are feelin fancy, you can take that 2 hr drive up to Santa Barbara. It's a smaller city and it's easier to find stuff to do. But if not, Manhattan and Santa Monica would be my first choices. Venice Beach is cool for visiting, but I wouldnt want to stay over there.

And thank you!!!! All of this is good to know, we were really thinking of going there and just figuring everything out when we got there. It has worked before, but I guess Cali is in a league of it's own

Go to lola's Martin Bar in West Hollywood. You have to know someone to know what clubs are popping- or do a google search and see if you can get your name on the list. Clubs in L.A. are very incognito. Melrose or Beverly Center for shopping. Rental car is MUST.
