Ok so I'm dying to get box braids but I have super fine curly hair. Can this be done? Now I know ppl get it done sometimes who say they have "fine" hair... but I would just hate to spend the money and they slip out because parts of my hair are super fine. In the past when I got sew-in's I could only get the very center of the back of my head braided and just pieces attached because my nape and edges are essentially just baby hair and the braids wouldn't stay with the weight of the tracks. And I want this to be a protective style for the most part, and if it's ripping out my hair it's not doing it's job lol.
I was considering 'conditioning' my hair for this for something like 12 weeks first maybe? By sealing with castor oil instead of coconut oil daily, deep conditioning twice a week, and doing a minor protein treatment once every week or once every two weeks (it likes protein) and get back on my msm, b-complete, garlic oil, and choline/inositol. Would that help any? (I know I should be doing all that regardless, right? lol)
Here are some pics of my edges/texture. Anyone with my fineness please come forward and share your experience! lol. A friend also suggested senegalese twists. Would those provide any less tension/weight? I hadn't really considered getting either without added hair though. It's just not full enough or long enough to me.
