For those ladies who do braidouts....what is your nightly maintenance?

So far I've found that rebraiding works best cause I sleep wild. As a side bar, I'm wondering if that is too much manipulation?

So let's hear it.Embarrassed

I've been wondering the same thing!

I re-braid every night. Moisturizing every other night. It does seem like a lot of manipulation, especially with all my finger-combing/fluffing I do most mornings.

I tried loosely gathering my hair on the very top of my head a couple times, to no avail. My braid outs get smashed and smooshed every time. I end up having to wear it in a ponytail or banana clip.

Good post OP!
BUMP...

my braidouts last for DAYSSSS lol. I put a satin cap on it, which is good for 3-4 days. Then I'll rebraid it, but only like 4 braids when it starts looking janky. I think the product you use may have a lot to do with it...it helps to use something for hold, or like a curl creme in addition to your moisturizer

Oh yeah, I also do this thing called "pineappling" where you gather all of your hair at the top of the head and secure it very loosely with a ponytail holder, then tie the front down with a satin or silk scarf. Thats probably the best preservation for me

i rebraid every other day.  the second day i use the "pineappling" method Detroit mentioned (thanks for the name) and do some kind of updo with a hairzing.  then i rebraid that night.  i make sure to moisturize everyday.  anxious to hear other ideas.

+ they sure do....http://public.fotki.com/lilnicka4u2nv/hair-progress/dec09jan2010/keeg.html

I alternate between twist and braid outs all week...to maintain my braid outs..well cornrow outs .For the first couple of night 2-4) I cornrow them....Towards the end (4-5 or 7) I individualy braid them because if I dont my hair will straigten out....I part my hair in three big sections (not neatly) sides, and middle (like a mohawk)...then I do big loose braids along the parts....

and of course I lightly spritz with my water and oil mix before resetting....

I re-braid nightly, nothing else keeps my hair from looking a mess.

I do wonder about the manipulation but I make sure my hair is ultra moisturized and I only do four braids and pin them up.

I rebraid with no issue. I'm not combing my hair though.
