We all know that the key to a flat, believable install is the foundation. So, why pay someone upwards of $900 or bid on an appointment (WTF ) for something you can do yourself? I self install and this is the pattern that I use.

The key to a flawless ponytail (imo) is the health of your perimeter leave out. If you have sparse edges or short/broken nape hairs, it's not going to work...PERIOD. Restore that area with nightly massages using a mix of carrier and essential oils that promote hair growth (ie. almond oil, castor oil, jbco, rosemary, jojoba, coconut...)

This is a great thread.
I've always favored the braid pattern found at the following link. It's great braid pattern for a totally enclosed weave, but I like to alter it for horseshoe/small perimeter leave out. Pages 24-26 show the pattern from different angles.
