Ok, so I got my hair done about a week ago and my braids are staying in pretty good so far. My braider saw how bad my braids were doing the last time I got them in so this time, she decided to braid my hair with a firmer grip. It wasn't painful or anything but my braids are in good and tight. Yesterday I while I was out shopping, I realized that the back of my head started to feel a little irritated. I felt around the nape and discovered that the skin felt a little raised and actually felt a bump or 2. I did have my hair in a high messy ponytail and immediately took it down but I wasn't anywhere close to home so all I did was leave it alone for a time. TBH, I can't tell if my braids were done too tightly back there (because they don't feel tight) or if it's the way that I've been tying my headscarf. So far, I've been applying some of my hair oil mix over them and trying to not tie on my headscarf too tight. Is there anything else I should be doing to make sure my hair doesn't get pulled out or anything? (As you could probably tell, I am terrified of traction alopecia and bald temples.)

that could happen.... I tried a weave & I had bumps by my ears they was painful.

I went to have a facial & I was told I had inflamed pores!!!....
Meaning the hair could & would eventually fall out & not come back....
.. your skin is pulled too tight  not good. I use a neosporin until the track loosen up.....
neva again!!    but that's my story some people don't have this problem...

Well, like I said before, my braids don't feel tight but I do wear my headscarf all the time in the house as long as I'm not going out. My bumps aren't bothering me so much now but I've been tying my hair a little more loosely.

If you have aloe vera juice or jell or hawaiian silky 14 in 1 spray...It always makes my head feel soothed after just getting it done

Use neosporin on the area.

Ask not to braid so tight around your edges next time.

I don't think neosporin is available on my side of the world, but I think it would be a good idea that I invest in something that's close. I'll definitely remember to ask my braider to take it a little more easy on my edges. I don't think I can deal with too many braid bump scares, lol.
