she seemed more of a courtesan than a queen ... not necessarily or just because of how she was dressed

but maybe it was how small the room was and how close everyone was to her and the stepping back ... I don't know, it's probably just me

I get what you're saying. I had the same kinda feeling about it. The room seemed way too small, maybe that's why.
