I think there is some confusion here. I think the point of air drying is to be in a no heat regimen
. If you air dry and then try to flat iron it, then you are defeating the purpose of trying to avoid heat.
What I am hearing is that your relaxer is not straight enough to allow the hair to be styled in the manner you desire without flat ironing. Perhaps a wetset would be the alternative so that you can avoid heat?
If you can not wet set and follow it with a dry wrap, then, you might indeed have no alternative than to use heat to get the style you want, or else try to have it relaxed straighter.
Some helpful hints. I apply coconut oil to all of the hair while it is still moist. Heavier hair could use a small amount of castor oil while it is still moist... then follow the steps in the 2nd video below.
This video on a ROLLER WRAP with hot comb at roots (if touchup is overdue) might be helpful to see how you might get the style you desire without direct heat to the bulk of the hair and the ends of the hair .
More to the point though, this video would show how to AIR DRY ONLY (provided the relaxer permitted)... Then she could just oil it and wrap it if desired.
So these videos give 2 options that are GREAT guides as to how to go about a no heat or low heat hair regimen.
This may also help as another no heat option... wet silk wrap with flat iron to new growth only if required.
