and even if you're not fully versed on the bible (nothing wrong with that), i'm sure you've seen the prince of egyptLOL so don't forget about baby moses' journey down the nile river. moses was a black man and from the tribe of hebrew tribe of judah or levi (can't remember) but he was not egyptian although he blended right in just like jesus did.
yeah and the apostle paul was mistaken for an egyptian too...

37As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he said to the commander, "May I say something to you?" And he said, "Do you know Greek? 38"Then you are not the Egyptian who some time ago stirred up a revolt and led the four thousand men of the Assassins out into the wilderness?" 39But Paul said, "I am a Jew of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city; and I beg you, allow me to speak to the people."…

What reasons are given for this?

but as with wiki links.. critiquing and further reading is a must thankfully this is well cited

Nothing wrong with wikipedia afro unless you are completely unfamiliar with critical readingLOL.

People read out what they want and most don't go beyond the first thing that confirms their thinking anyway but you can always walk away with pieces to do additional research on.  I love Wikipedia.

I feel guilty for not reading any of Diop's workEmbarrassed
