I read what I wrote and I wasn't trying to be rude to OP. Just the policy is kinda dumb and you gotta hit people in their pockets when your unsatisfied with service.

IA.  Because of them, the rest of us have to deal with stupid policies to deal with dishonest ppl.  I don't think Bloomingdales is wrong to do this, and doubt this is really going to hurt sales.

The only issue I see here is the one the op mentioned. A defective garment. Besides I really can't see sales being affected. Folks will shop anywhere that's convenient for them. No matter who is getting fucced no matter any new security measures.
Bloomingdales is just fine. Other stores offer a return policy much more lenient than theirs (return it anytime with or without a receipt) and they are doing okay.

They trying it tho.LOL

Cool with me, actually. I work in a fashion retail store. The serial returners are a huge annoyance, especially GROUPS of them returning a closet's worth of clothes only to buy another closet's worth with our store credit. It actually makes us lose profit.

Not only that but you get the ridiculous customers who will return grody-ass clothing they ruined and have the audacity to get mad that we won't accept it. Some customers won't even obey the damn policy and think they can return it whenever they want. I had a customer have the audacity to bring this FADED ASS RECEIPT. Bitch bought a dress NINE MONTHS AGO and came to return it to the store expecting some cash or a new dress through an exchange and got MAD when we wouldn't do it! The dress she brought back was so old, it was on sale!
