For all you color experts out there, I could really use a bit of guidance.

My plan is to Ombre my 1B Kinky Straight extensions this weekend. I've done a few test runs on other types of hair (EPRST & Premium Now), but I've yet to do a strand test on my KS. I've gathered a lot of good advice from the boards and youtube. However, most bleaching/dyeing advice has been given in reference to less course textures and not KS.

With that being said I have a few questions that I would appreciate answers to, keep in mind that the hair is kinky straight and not Brazilian, Malaysian, or etc.

1. What steps should I take to ensure that the hair doesn't dry out and end up completely damaged being that KS is a bit more dry or coarse feeling than other textures?

2. Would it be in my best interest to use a certain brand of bleach or volume of developer (i.e., is 40  developer a bit too high?)

3. What is the best deep conditioner and regular moisturizing conditioner to use AFTER bleaching/dyeing the hair?

4. I plan on using Dark & Lovely Honey Blonde and Brown Cinnamon to achieve the look below. Should this give me something close to the look I desire or are there other colors I should consider?

5. Is there any special color application technique to keep in mind when dyeing hair that has been previously layered in another install?

TIA! Any and all guidance is really appreciated. Smile

I feel awful for not coming back to check on this thread and provide an update. But yes I did ombre the KS hair. I was going for a very subtle look and so all I used was developer and bleach and it took very quickly (10-15 minutes I believe). The hair did not seem to be affected in any way afterwards, but just as I noticed in the past with my own hair the lighter the hair the less "healthy" it seems to look, especially the ends.
