Is it just me, or are too many black entertainers taking spots for real actors in featured roles. I don't mean to hate on the rock, beyonce, eve, chris brown or anyone else who is a non-actor who took the spotlight away from an up and comming black actor or actress. You don't see good white roles being filled with half-witted singers most of the time. But yet, people like Cassie and Lauren London go from models to actresses/ singers when there were more competent people.
For example, when Beyonce did dreamgirls everyone was so excited! Then I saw the movie and I wasn't all that impressed. It's obvious that they did not pick B because she was the best actress who auditioned. They even stated that through out shooting they would even have to tell her to sing softer because  she just wanted to sing in her style and not like Dina would. And Beyonce did not change much else about her than her physical appearance to prepare for the role. Then her father made that ridiculous statement about how she got gipped out of an Oscar. There was a black actress out there who was perfect for Dina, but the producers wanted someone who would bring money in, not awards.

So I don't blame the artists for the Casting director's, and the producers fault. An entertainer is going to take the job whether they are the best for it or not. But, this is a big problem in movies. Black actors who study and own their craft get gipped for someone who just want to be in a movie because they can. so it becomes that much harder for real actors to reach the level of Halle Berry and Denzel Washington. And that means a less diversity of black characters. How do you feel about this?

Let's face it, a good majority of the singers who try to act can't pull it off. Beyonce is a horrible actress yet she has like 2 new movies coming out. Lauren London cannot act nor can Cassie. They give these girls roles because they are decent looking. ATL was horrible. 50 Cent is in a new movie with Robert D...can we say awful?

I agree, but sometimes; as in the case of Jennifer Hudson, it works.  I also feel that the unknown actors get left out when it comes to the box office. I get tired of seeing the same faces get the big roles; I'd like to see someone I've never seen before get more opportunities to shine.

Yes Jenifer Hudson was amazing but Beyonce never strays to far from her self and people like L. London and Cassie are just eye candy. Acting is more than just spiting out lines people! and what two new movies is B going to ruin now. She's a wonderful singer but not so much as an actress.

I agree the studios cast already well known entertainers in films because of marketability, money and attract fans.

I agree.  I don't think that singing and acting are mutually exclusive.  What really bothers me is that there are struggling, potential up and comers who don't get the chance b/c entertainers are taking all the roles.
