Hi Ladies, maybe some of you can help or have had similar experiences.  My doctor has put me on birth control to manage my heavy cycles.  The first one I took (loestrin fe) gave me chest pains, the second (sprintec 28) didn't change my cycle, but gave me terrible cramps, and my current (junel 1/20) is making me more tired than I have ever been in my life.  I think I might stick it out for a month to see if it gets better, but I may have to switch again.  Has anyone gone through this?  Did you just keep going through trial and error?

Have you explored non hormonal methods?
I haven't dealt with it but I have a friend who could never adjust to bc pills and she just has to deal with the heavy cycle. It definitely sucks but her body can't take that stuff.

Some people never get used to it. I know I didn't. Wait till the depression or no libido kicks in..the opposite of a good time
If progesterone only might work? I never tried that because you have to take it at the exact same time every day and I wasn't about that life.

Most none hormonal BCs aren't going to help a heavy cycle.. All I know of is the copper IUD.. that's known to make periods heavier. What else is non hormonal?

Have you tried a low dose pill? Most pills give me tons of side effects but I get NONE with Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo.  Supposedly Nuvaring is less likely to give side effects too.

But in the meantime try some Red Raspberry Leaf capsules. You can find them on Amazon, check the reviews. They're really amazing. I had a period that lasted almost 2 months once and that's the only thing that stopped it.

I had trouble with Loestrin also, which is the very first pill that I was prescribed.  Made me very nauseous, headaches and it affected my vision (contacts).  I'm not sure if it was because that was my first time taking BC's, but I gave it a month before they put me on Ortho Novum 777.  My body adjusted to that well, although it was a higher-dose pill.  The only thing I noticed with this pill was that I gained some weight (or at least I like to blame it on the pill lol).
I would suggest other BC methods, because as someone mentioned above you may be one of those folks who just can't take BC's.   Good luck to you!

Have you tried natural alternatives to regulate your hormones?

If interested, some things to do your own research on are

Red raspberry leaf
Maca root
Chasteberry
Black Cohosh--this could be what you are looking for. Do some research first. Very good for heavy bloodflow.
Sarsparillia

I had the same issue after they discontinued the pill I was on. I tried 3 different pills & they all made me sick/crazy. Taking the pill at night before bed has eliminated the nausea, tiredness & anxiety/mood swings. I hope you find something that works for you.
