I do think they were close. Kids have said it numerous times.
Something thats also important to note is the narrator of the film is ruby dee who was close with both families. Her husband was the only person who spoke at both martin and malcoms funerals.

tons of pics with both women in it together hugging and kissing.

i don't doubt they were friends, but enough to make a movie out of? i'm skeptical
I'm with you. Of course they communicated. I don't think they brought each other cookies. Or maybe my definition of friendship is different than most.

i think thats the thing.
even when watching the movie..
i didn't get the opinion that they were the best of friends..
just that they were friends....who went through similar situations.

when as you pointed out.. ppl like to sensationalize the relationship between the shabazz's and the kings like they were  mortal enemies.

Really? What was your opinion of him?

very reclusive.

i was of course young at the time.. lol but I was overly hyped to have the grandson of malcolm x in my class.

(like when i say my dad is a hugeeeeeeeeeeeee stan of El Hajj malik el shabazz I kid you not)... so for me it was a big deal. b/c I've been spoon fed the word of that man for years from my dad.

but he just was quiet... and was struggling w/ his own demons... i didn't know that at the time.. so in true JHS form.. he was just written off as weird...and not paid attention to.

Do you believe that malcolm x' grandson started the fire that killed his grandmother.

Word on the street was that it was a set up from the CIA.

he did..
not w/ the intentions of killing her..

so in that way its an accident.

but he set a fire.

his purpose was thinking ... maybe if i set it.. she'll be so through w/ me.. she'll send me back to my mom.

Ahhh, the mind of a child.

Very sad.

Thanks for explaining that.

Interesting. I want to be as politically correct as possible but I wonder if he did have a mental illness. Setting fires is a huge warning sign.

that sucks.  people prolly expected so much from him because of who his grandfather was.

I sometimes wonder about the kids and grandkids of famous black leaders.  Are they allowed to lead their own lives or do friends, fams and regular people expect them to be just as deep/powerful as their famous fams.
