    Posted: Sep 20 2004 at 11:59am

Hello All,

Ok I don't want to sound redundant, I did a search and could not find the answer- but here it goes:

I would like to color my relaxed hair and also Indian hair a brown color, not sure what brown but not to light and not to dark. I have 1b hair now and just wanted something a little lighter.

How do I go about coloring my hair and Indian hair the same color with out using a permanent color.

Also I wash my hair at lease 1x week, will the rinse wash out really soon.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The best rinse for relaxed hair (i think) is Clairol Beautiful collection. sold at most beauty stores and definatley at Sallys. It last for a long time, its gentle to your hair, and its good for all hair textures. I have coarse hair and my grandma has very fine hair, we both use it. it also came recommended to me by my stylist.

Good luck

Jaybird my mom uses the Clariol also and she loves it, I also hear that the Bigen is another great option. They have a new line with more color choices but I can't think of it now, but it is still made by Bigen.

I would say try a demi permanent color. I find rinses to be drying (JAZZING), and the others rinse out too quickly. Your best bet would be to try a demi which is stronger than a rinse, but not as harsh as a permanent. It actually leaves the hair feeling softer and more shiny. I suggest Natural Instincts (which works soooooooooo well with the indian hair, i've used it) or clairol compliments, which you can get from sally's or a beauty supply store. It has its own developer, and a nice range of colors. You will have to buy the gel color, and a bottle of developer. Another one is wella color charm, semi permanent. These will not run, and will stand up to weekly washings. Good Luck!

my "real" hair is relaxed, but very fine. I think the demi will work good for you. Its way better than a rinse!
