I disagree with her slightly about African Americans creating our own culture. The way this is written, it's almost as if she believes black culture exists in a vacuum and if I were to be really over-sensitive about her statement, I'd say it came off as slightly patronizing. Black people in America did not necessarily create our own culture. Quite a few things from our time before we were forced onto the slave ships, survived. The way we seasoned out food do we could eat it, how we braided our hair, words and grammatical patterns we used to communicate. It wasn't very much, but it survived. The "creation" came in when we started to question who we were as a people and try to piece these things together because we knew white people didn't know how to cook or do hair.

Ironic that she doesn't mention bout blackcism and almost writes like a white male

I am not from the UK, but "Black pride" doesn't really seem like a point of pride from those I've met. Blacks in the UK also make a much sharper distinction between Black and mixed. It seems like you are still a nicca in Europe too, even if you are Black. Black footballers are called racial slurs, and in France Oprah was locked out of a store. It is problem everywhere, not just the US. Generally, I do think the US has the most opportunities for advancement for Blacks. Do you think Blacks take opportunities in the UK? If so, why hasn't there been more social advancement by Blacks? I'm not trying to be argumentative. I'm just curious. I'm also curious, are there "Black organizations" in Europe (Black colleges, Black professional associations, Black social advancement groups)? I have heard there is a growing Black middle class in the UK. Is that true?

From how she pointed out African Americans I have to agree. Black people are always innovating and creating something and it's within our nature to do so. We were forced to be self reliant and I see legal hustlers all the time doing their thing and when it's something affecting us we stand tall together. It may not seem like the perfection you desire but its there and it can be very powerful when in need. We do need to be stronger cohesively and work together more than when we are in dire need of each other.

LOL Right, it's always glass half empty thinking that led us to believe we just ain't shyt. Black males by percentage are attending college at a higher rate than white males. Blacks just like to see all the thugs and don't even pay attention to the guys who handle their business which are way more than the thugs by huge amount of percentages, but its unfathomable that we must have some sort of desire to be a thug. I don't care for european gang culture.

That is true. I think a lot of us are conditioned to look ahead to what could be instead of what is. I don't think it is bad to want more progress, but we have to acknowledge what is good about AAs, America, and Black American culture. If you look at it comparatively, from a global standpoint, Black Americans have a lot to be proud of. I know some Black Americans don't want to claim me, but I am a very proud Black American.

i'm confused.com....LOL

Me too...

I've definitely seen the below on forms:

-Black/African American
-White
-White/Non Hispanic
-Hispanic

"Hispanic" isn't a race anyway so they have to check one of the first 3 (or any other options) on a race identification question.
