Are you in the U.S? or in England? Because I'm pretty sure that there are no rules currently against a jew wearing his kippa at work, or in public school...
USA, they'll live even if they cant wear it.  Steven Spielberg doesn't wear his, He hasn't died.  I'm sure he'll still go to jewish heaven
But doesn't it bother you that he would not be ALLOWED to wear it if he felt he needed to? Do people have to be carbon copies of each other, think the same, feel the same, look the same, be the same?. It reeks of Brave New world to me and it's scary as hell (no pun intended)

I'm not a religious person, but I believe people should wear whatever religious symbols or dress codes as they see fit. This is as wrong as forcing religion on others.

If a city wants to put up a nativity scene during Christmas, they'd better have something up for Muslims, Pagans, Jews, Atheists, Buddhists, and everyone else, too.

Seeing that so many of you are anti-religious, is this something you would agree with?

In my province, they came out with a very controversial charter that aims to ban all "ostentatious" religious symbols in the public sector. Which means that muslim women would not be able to keep their jobs in government if they keep their head coverings on, Christians cannot wear a cross of a certain diameter as a necklace, jews cannot wear their kippa, etc. The whole idea is to supposedly "preserve the separation of church and state" but frankly it reeks of intolerance for me and for most of Canada. Would you agree with such a Charter? It's a huge debate here and there have been marches for and against.

"Be careful when you fight monsters, lest ye might become a monster."

I'm totally against this. As long as a person's expression of faith doesn't harm anyone else, then all of them should be allowed. Removing religious monuments from public buildings is on thing, but this is an entirely is an entirely different animal.

I'm atheist and I think this is a bit much. Ones religious appearance is completely different from them trying to force their beliefs on you. I don't see how/why someone being decked out in their religious gear is going to negatively effect others. Theyre just doing the most IMO

Spielberg might be jewish in heritage, but that doesn't mean he's a practicing jew (sp) either--which would explain why he doesn't wear a kippa.  I had a jewish boss who served ham at his Christmas party in his home.

IA w/ JP--who wants to live in a society where there isn't some freedoms to express who and what we are?

i am not religious

i don't agree with this at all...people should be allowed to wear religious symbols ANYPLACE as long as they are not imposing their beliefs on others.

We should all have the freedom to express our spirituality even in dress, i don't see the problem...

Whenever i hear something like this i feel its directed toward muslimahs, which i happen to think are some of the most elegant and demure women...
