Remember the TV show Baldwin Hills? That show about young African
American teenagers who come from rich families? In other words, it was
the black version of Laguna Beach that aired from June 2007 to March
2009 on BET. Yes, many people thought it was corny and partially
scripted, but the show was actually success and lasted three seasons. In
fact, a lot of people grew fond of some of the characters on the show.
It’s been three years since the show ended, and we know we’re not the
only one’s curious what these young entertainers ended up doing with
their lives. Most of them have completely disappeared into obscurity,
while others are still trying to make their mark in various fields.
Let’s have a look at what some of the most memorable characters are up
Moriah Johnson season 1-3
First off, let’s start with the jock that every girl wanted…Moriah
Johnson. The son of NBA player Marques Johnson, the basketball stud was
one of the few characters to star in all three seasons of the show,
which is not surprising considering he was the center of attention from
all the girls. Now a basketball player at Tuskegee University, Moriah
recently made headlines for more than playing basketball. A shirtless
photograph of him cuddling with another shirtless man surfaced
on the internet in May of last year, stirring up rumors that he is gay.
Johnson has since denied the rumors, claiming it was a prank by him and
Gerren Taylor (Season 1-3)
Who could forget Gerren? The aspiring young model who was caught in
many of Moriah’s love triangles. She definitely had her fair share of
haters that came along with it. Perhaps it was just jealousy because of
her successful modeling career? At one point, she was signed to the Ford
Modeling Agency and even modeled for big names like Betsey Ford, and
Tommy Hilfiger. Gerren now has her own company called Taylor Made
Models, continues to model for both print and runway, and often makes
appearances at various fashion shows.
Staci (Season 1-3)
One of the few cast members who was not from the wealthy areas of
Baldwin Hills, Staci played the role of the wannabe rich kid always
finding herself in the social circles of the upper class. This girl was
straight up from the hood, and was proud of it. She definitely created
controversy on the show when she became pregnant from an older man.
These days there is not much going on in the public eye with Staci. Once
the show ended, she pretty much dropped off the face of the earth…a
drastic change for someone who was on all three seasons of the show.
Seiko Huffman (Season 2-3)
Known as Staci’s best friend, Seiko joined the cast in season 2 as
someone who was also not from a rich family. She’s the daughter of her
town’s Sheriff and was also the love interest of cast member Justin.
Nowadays, she is most known for following around Chris Brown’s
girlfriend Karrueche Tran. Although she herself is an aspiring model and
actress, so far she’s only been seen riding the coattails of Tran and
Ashley Calloway (Season 1-2)
As the daughter of actress Vanessa Bell Calloway, Ashley was the
perfect image of a young teenaged girl growing up in wealthy family.
She would even sometimes be seen hanging out with her celebrity aunties
Vivica A. Fox, Star Jones and Lela Rochon. After she left the show, she
attended Spelman University and was even the president of her sorority,
Alpha Kappa Alpha. She recently graduated in July and is currently
working at the corporate office for Delta Airlines.
Justin Walker (Season 2-3)
By season two, the show included a more economically diverse cast,
including Justin, the single father who had served jail time. Justin is
probably considered one of the most successful of the cast members so
far. Having already written “Damaged” by Danity Kane while he was on the
show, Justin is now currently songwriting Sony ATV Publishing. He’s
definitely grown into a fine young man, recently gracing the cover of
Lor’Rena Dejurnett (Season 2)
This next cast member was only on the show for one season, but man
did she make an impact in that one season! She sure knew how to bring
the drama, as she had no problem stirring up trouble with Gerren over
Moriah. She graduated from high school after her one season and went on
to become a track and field athlete at her college Ole Miss. She
recently did an interview on YouTube where she describes what life is
like for her at Ole Miss. Based on the interview, her life there doesn’t
seem that great. She also revealed that she would be open to doing
Reality TV again.
Sal (Season 1-2)
Also originally from the hood was aspiring rapper Sal, Staci’s best
friend who struggled with keeping it real as he lived with his wealthy
uncle. According to his twitter, he is still making music. However, no
music has recently been released to the public or on any of his social
media accounts. He claims that he is now spending more time working
behind the scenes in not just music, but also in television and sports.
