My youngest daughter likes to wear her hair out in curly afros, twists and twist outs alot.  She's really tender-headed and doesn't like to have her hair manipulated a lot.  The problem is that her hair is ullllllllllltra dry.  So I'm thinking about baggying her at night and sealing w/ castor oil until we get the moisuture levels back up.

I'm going to baggy her whole head w/ a shower cap and put a satin bonnet over it.

Has anyone else tried baggying their little one's hair?  Pros? Cons?

Btw, she's 5 y/o.

I have done it before it seemed to work out good.  I put her hair in ponytails and bagged those.  I used ors olive oil moisturizer, s-curl spray, and EVOO. not damping the hair but using just a little.

I just baggied my daughter for the first time this weekend and loved the results.

I used coconut milk, coconut oil, and Redkens All Soft Deep Treatment.  I mixed it all up into a custard and put it her hair the night before washing.

We had great results.  There was no need for a treatment after the wash.

It's never too early to start taming those 'fros.  I've also just started bagging my daughter's her and it's the best thing.  I love her 'fro in the mornings.  At the moment, she's got twists, her hair is quite long and she's started to complain the endless seating that comes with cornrows.  The only 'cons' was that she found the whole 'sleep with a shower cap' thing a little strange at first, but now she's used to it.  I seal the ends with castor oil mixed with Sta-Sof-Fro.

Any of the cheapies from the Suave Naturals are good because they do not have cones, but anything you like for moisture is ok.

I think I might try curly b's recipe for my own hair as well as my daughter's hair.  It sounds like it will work wonders!
