I'm tipsy and bored so this topic isn't to be taken 100% seriously, LOL!

Anyway, I just want to say that I blame God for my bad credit history. Why? Because when I was a believer (in the Abrahamic god), I never took the time to invest in a 401K, Money Market Accounts, CDs or anyt of that "wordly" stuff (and I was more often than not, deliquent in my credit card accounts). I figured if I prayed hard enough, god would always provide for me...guess what? He didn't and now my credit is jacked (I'm working on it though. Thank GOD I don't believe that ish anymore!)

Hmmm! Wonder if my creditors will accept the god excuse.

I have a sinking feeling that this very attitude is the source of most black people's financial problems.

Thoughts?

oooh, I can edit now!

You have a point. A lot of people ignore problems and wait for god to fix them.

So if they do get solved it's a blessing/god answers prayers

But if things get worse, it just wasn't meant to be.

Circular logic....

I can't edit, but on second thought, this topic IS to be taken seriously. I'm dead serious.

You're exactly right supermodelsonya. Either that or you're not praying hard enough/don't really believe...like that chic said in one of the other threads, "you were never one of us to begin with" (or something along those lines.)

Maybe it has to do with verses like these:

19 "Do not put away riches for yourselves on earth. Moths and rust can destroy them. Thieves can break in and steal them. 20 Instead, put away riches for yourselves in heaven. There, moths and rust do not destroy them. There, thieves do not break in and steal them. 21 Your heart will be where your riches are.

26 "Look at the birds of the air. They don't plant or gather crops. They don't put away crops in storerooms. But your Father who is in heaven feeds them. Aren't you worth much more than they are?

^^Bingo!

Though I was raised (for most of my childhood) as a Muslim (kinda, sorta), and I'm sure if I did some digging, I'd be able to quote verses in the Quran along those very same lines.

OP don't you know that you need to wear a new suit, dress, hat and shoes every weekend to church (speaking from a Baptist perspective)?! It's expensive, but if you pray really hard and put your faith in Him will provide for you (as long as you tithe enough to keep your pastor in his Range Rover)

But on a slight side note, I had a coworker today tell me that I should be wary of and/or not offer savings accounts to the Africans who come in my branch...ya know since most of them are Muslim they don't believe in earning interest. I mean I knew what he meant but some who come in have no problem whatsoever with opening a savings account...besides its only .05% anyways.

purpulicious, doesn't the qu'ran forbid accepting and charging of interest? Tying down one's camel just aint gone cut it when you want to purchase a home.
