But its not just a black and white thing I just feel like no one is working as hard as they used to to earn these awards!
I thought you were referring to race, because that's all it is discussed here.
Well, thinking that way I don't think it is people not working hard enough, but like Sang said, to generate ad revenue and also to choose the next American's sweetheart or the next big male movie star.
Ex: Jennifer Lawrence won last year for best actress. She did one kid's movie and was called fat. Then she does an adult movie and suddenly she proved herself as an actress, thus getting the award. Now she is America's sweetheart.
Taylor Swift had her microphone grabbed from her by Kanye West. Suddenly the b!tch started getting so many awards it was a joke. The girl is not even a good role model - all she does is sing songs talking sh!t about exes. And she can't stop sharing herself with men, it's like she can't be alone.
The movies nowadays are mediocre. Sandra Bullock nominated best actress over "Gravity"? All she did was scream, it was annoying. She was America's sweetheart for a while after Miss Congeniality and got her post back after her husband cheated on her. Jennifer Aniston literally acts the same way, she can never incorporate a character, it is almost like she is always Rachel in every movie, but is being paid millions. Drew Barrymore still plays early 30-something girls when she is aging, but she is rich and she is the goddaughter of Spielberg, so no wonder...
Television is mainly reality shows that keep getting cancelled until they stick with one that will make as much success as Kardashians show, Jersey Shore, 16 and Pregnant or The Hills. All tv shows about families have the same boring formula: stupid husband, smart witty wife, either dumb kids or smart kids, and some annoying neighbors.
Animation is the only thing that has been continuously changing. Toy Story made movies jump to life, and Shrek proved to the world that kids like and should appreciate another form of beauty (and also great jokes). Animation basically has been attracting adult crowds lately, which 20 years ago was unheard of unless you were into animation.
