...you'll be on birth control???

So one of my co-workers has 4 daughters (ages 7-16) and she was telling us that the two oldest (14 & 16) are on birth control (even though they insist they aren't doing anything). According to her it's "mandatory" as long as they live in her house because she refuses to be a grandmother. Do you agree with her logic???

i see it being a preventative measure. but at the same time.. why are you pumping your kids with unnecessary hormones. like 14 you've barely really started growing. i don't like it. 

i was gonna say something about her type of parenting.. but bhm is too sensitive for that. LOL

I dont see anything wrong with preventing babies, however, if they aren't having sex like they say then putting them on BC may promote them going out to do it. I would say if she is going to do that though she may as well go all out and buy condoms for them as well.

I certainly do agree.

And yes, I do believe in body autonomy. And yes, I believe that parents shouldn't have to control every aspect of their child's lives (especially when it comes to their vaginas). And yes, it is a contradiction to say a parent should force their teen to take birth control but shouldn't be able force them to have an abortion. And yes, I think hormonal birth control is a bad idea for most women.

But in this day and age, all that goes out the window when it comes to your own kids. Why? Because teenagers don't make good decisions. Want to prevent teen pregnancy? Hormonal birth control is where it's at. And not the pill...the implanted one (implanon? norplant?)...it would be mandatory in my  house.

I'll be teaching my kids about safe sex, not pumping them with unnecessary hormones until it becomes a necessity.

Last week wasnt there a thread where friends and daughters they was having meeting every week/month and they girls in the group said the were not sexing but they have a std or became pregnant.........all of that to say is yes but them on it, not the 14 yr..............peer pressure happens in a blink of an eye.
