I don't really like the terms african american and black.

Anyway, I don't see what there is to be offended by.

Nope. In Spanish it literally translates to black. Yt's have just found a way to give it a negative connotation.

I'm not really offended but I grew up with the term.

Ya it is baffling. I noticed for hispanics/latinos they have Spain, Cuba, Puerto rico etc listed. Don't know why African-Americans and blacks are the only options.

at first i was thinking that maybe it was because whites making those forms don't give a damn and only see black and then i remembered that black americans do the same thing.  anytime a person says theyre from DR, Panama, Jamaica,Guyan or anywhere other than america there always a black american saying "so you still black"LOL

maybe thats why

LOL Truuuuue but from a research standpoint that makes no sense

There may be a lot people who probably answer Other just because that's the only option

What's wrong with African American? It sounds great!

When provided write-in lines, as much as 50 percent of people who checked their race as "white" wrote in an ethnicity such as Italian, Polish, Arab, Iranian or Middle Eastern. More than 76 percent of black respondents also wrote in an ethnicity, such as Jamaican, Haitian or Ethiopian.
