Just came back to say that I have a lot of great self talk with myself. I swear the conversation is so therapeutic. Sometimes its serious, reassuring or just  hilarious and I can never share it with anyone because it would be hard to explain that the other "person" or voice is the one within me.

Yes

I enjoy being alone, but I can be a little hard on myself. I'm constantly trying to improve myself in all facets of my life, and I can get too critical.

Anyone have tips on how to be a better friend to yourself?  Anything that you've done?

there are probably a million self help books on the market that give imo superficial advice on how to love yourself, but i really think it is a lot less complicated than we make it.

you have to have a clear cut standard by which you judge a person's worthiness of being loved. if your standards are shallow, based solely off superficial characteristics, you're setting yourself up for failure because you will judge yourself by that same shallow criteria and shallow sh*t is ever changing, forever elusive.

on the other hand, if you think kind, empathetic, generous people are worthy of being loved, make sure you are living up to that standard yourself. how could you not love yourself if you are the embodiment of all the things you admire in others?

I really think there is a troll on here that goes around giving everyone 1-star.  I 5-starred you though.

I never thought of it my relationship with myself this way before.  I think I'm a much better friend to my actual friends than myself.  I need to work on that.
