*comes in waving her Cones flag*

they are great for my hair and I don't believe ANY of the bad things said about them. I have never experienced any drying or buildup from cone use (i'm a frequent cowasher though) and it would be impossible for me to detangle at times without a cone heavy conditioner I love them. Viva La Silicone!

cones are good they give hair the needed slippage we want it holds strands together like glue, basically making hair look healthier shinner , i would say there not good or bad, just a nessicasity for healthy hair care and if using lots of cones u may have to clarify more often, so keep them to a min

it depends on your hair. i have a friend with hair some what similar to mine and while she can use cones, they have to be extremely light and she cant use it often, or her hair will look greasy, weighed down, and then starts getting dry after a week or so.

my hair on the other hand surely appreciates the cones. i did the no cone thing for a year and my hair was none too happy.

so what i say is try it and see how your hair reacts, pay close attention, and if it does start to have a bad reaction, switch to something lighter or avoid them all together.

by the way, i only wash 2x a week (sunday is a poo wash and wed is co-wash) so the cones sit on my head for a while and i dont get build up.

my friend washes every other day (no real routine yet) and the build up was crazy bad on her.

when i used to use NTM on a daily basis it felt like my hair wouldnt absorb any other moisture until i washed it out. so in a way they dried out my hair. now i only use cones once a week, when i do my rollersets. NTM and chi silk infusion. the rest of the week is cone free.

I use products with cones I feel buildup after a while but I make sure to clarify. I won't stay away from cones but I don't want too much of it in my hair.
