If you've never been to a same sex school, a good one, then you really don't know what you're talking about.

Using teaching strategies based on gender seems...wrongheaded.  Humans are not binary.  Learning is a lot more individual and complex than that.  I'm glad there's an education movement to address it.  There are other reasons people may prefer single sex schools, but I've never been a fan.  Still, it's their personal preference.

I disagree with it fostering sexist gender role, if anything it does the opposite cuz there is no gender bias.

I never went to an all girls school. However I could see how it could benefit children.

I agree.

If I put my child in a co-Ed class then I don't need the teacher making edu choices like that.

I think it does bc they're creating an environment where they're saying "you're a girl. This is how you should learn"...what if the girl thrives more by the technique used in the all boy class room? How will she feel to know she doesn't fit into what they've now deemed the norm?

What the ACLU is fighting against in that article and single-sex education in general are two separate issues. It would be nice if we did a little better with the titles/topics and the content of the OP because people are clearly responding to the title and not the content of the article.

There is nothing harmful or unlawful about single-sex education in general. In fact, single sex learning environments can be the best choice for kids for lots of reasons (and it can also be a bad choice for kids as well). I say this as someone who attended the #1 private all girls school in my city.
