Are nerds now the same as nerds 20-30 years ago?

 

 

 

Is corny or nerdy now in the 2012 2013 the same as it was in 1987?  I've been watching nerdy boys grow up (no pedo) and it seems that the nerds of today are gettin' their swag ratio up...especially in this technological age.  I have a lil cousin in law and i've watched him grow up and I think to myself....the girls are gonna go crazy for him.   He is 13...takes classes at MIT and is technological savvy...but he still has a bit of....something.  He's like 60-70%, geek 30-40% cool that has been dipped in a 15%swag/85% water solution.  He's only 13 but I forcast his percentages will go up.

 

Antyways....I will go to conventions where the nerd turn out is in the 105th percentile...and a good number of them are like....hot.   Back in my day....the nerds were sweethearts but tended to have issues with.....their bodily hygene/teeth game and were extremely socially awkward.  These days....it seems nerds, dweebs, geeks and cornballs have gotten their weight up.

 

Is it just me? 

 

I do think it's more cool to be smart these days. I wasnot alive in 1987, but when I was in school kids with the total package (smart + attractive + charisma) were the coolest, not necessarily just the jocks and attractive people.

 

Also, maybe people are being themselves more and embrassing interests that may have made them look like a nerd in the past.

 

The coolest/most popular people in my highschool were the top 10 percent in academics, technologically savvy, watched anime, etc...
