I don't remember a lot of people like Ja Rule or Nelly prior to 2000-ish when they came out. it seems like some things changed after that.

But Ja was out before Nelly and Ja sounded like a lighter version of DMX when he first came out

I don't know any Ja Rule music before Holla Holla...i don't remember the exact yr though...1999ish?
Ja definitely drifted away from that DMX sound though...i doubt he could've kept it up anyway...when he tried to go back to that it flopped. I like Nelly and Ja's version of sing song faux gangster rap/pop.

this is BET's top 10 rappers of the 2000s
i guess y'all are right...Jeezy is on there. Jeezy and no Fab? come on.
St. Louis rapper Nelly, on the comeback trail with his hit "Just a Dream," failed to cut it on BET's Top Ten Rappers of the 21st Century list. The televised special aired Friday night on BET, as industry experts voted on and debated the list for an hour. Nelly's value was discussed, and longtime friend and collaborator Jermaine Dupri fought for Nelly's place on the top ten, but the panel didn't buy it. Nelly, one of the best-sellling rappers ever, did make the top 15, along with Eve, Fabolous, the Game and Gucci Mane. 1. Eminem 2. Lil' Wayne 3. Kanye West 4. 50 Cent 5. T.I. 6. Ludacris 7. Drake 8. Young Jeezy 9. Jadakiss 10. Rick Ross
