OP seems hell bent on making everyone believe only children is the way to go. Why don't you just take on board people's opinions instead of trying to debunk all the ones you have not experienced.... | gurrrllll. me and you are here, I was reading page 4 like wth is going on here |
I was pointing out that not all siblings are close because a poster stated "There's nothing like a sibling bond." Did you not see the comment? Why does pointing out that no situation is perfect bother you?
| You have made your point at least 5 times on every page. Just chill a lil bit |
I had to. Different posters seem to feel that an only child is bad, but having siblings is a hallmark card. Similar to a marriage, everything won't always be sunshine and roses. It could go either way. I just wanted to be honest about that.
And as far as me chillling, the same could go for you......just chill. Nothing to get uptight about. Don't let it bother you. It's just a discussion.

Not an only child. And I have 5 children. Just like some "only children" cant see their situation any other way, I really can't see my life without my homies/siblings. When one used to leave, the whole household felt off balance. My children say the same thing

I'm an only child. It was lonely growing up, my parents weren't home much because they worked a lot. I spent most of my time at friend's houses or out in the neighborhood.
I don't mind it as much now that I'm older but in the back of my head I worry that if something were to happen to my parents as they get older, I don't have any siblings to help out or give support, so that would fall squarely on me. That worries me a little.
If and when I ever have children, I'd like to have more than just one.

I understand, but even with siblings the burden could still fall squarely on you. You should check out those forums I posted on the other pages. There are many people with siblings complaining about their siblings not being helpful at all, leaving the responsiblity squarely on one person. So, please, don't worry about that.
The link below may be of interest to you and deals with your worries/fears about dealing with ailing parents:
