no form of saving is earning interest right now. rates are too low.
are you looking to save or looking to profit?

Interest rates are so low that cd's and savings accounts are definitely not a good way to go if you're trying to grow your money.

But if you're just trying to save for a goal, like building an emergency fund, a savings account is a fine way to go.

What are you trying to save for?

cds used to be good many years ago. i remember when interest rates were 7%. i laddered the hell out of them then.  sadly, they are now 0.5%.
some index funds are good right now though.

its costs more to have a cd than the interest you get back
