The good news is that it's definitely shedding and not breakage cause the hair is still growing at a decent rate, there aren't any bald patches and the hair's thickness hasn't changed  it's just the shedding aggravates me, whenever I run my fingers through my hair and I come out with bits of hair and I certainly don't look forward to combing it. It seems the longer the curly perm, the more it sheds no?

I don't know what to do now. I got so sick of dealing with falling hair to a point that I just put braids on so I don't have to deal with it.

Any suggestions?

The big difference between shedded hair and breakage is that shedded hair is usually long and has a white bulb at the one of the ends.
Now I've had a Curly perm for a while and i've been experiencing a lot of breakage at first I thought it was just me but I know other people
who are happily growing their hair with cp healthy but I don't know them to the extend of asking what they are doing... Anyways so I've tried almost everything
protein/moisture baggying, protective styles but every time i even touch my hair hair follows i'm really confused have you ever experienced this with your journey?
Ifso how did you fix it? Also would you mind telling us what your reg is as you've had a healthy cp for quite some time and haven't had any breakage.
Do you use oils in your reg?
I'd also recommend the garlic or a black tea rinse as the caffiene stops the shedding.

One method to tame the curls, add body, bouncier, thicker, softer, shinier & silkier hair is to set your hair with plastic curlers after you towel dry, you'll end up with uniform balance of curls. Blow dry briefly while curling them in curlers. Take them out, and finger comb to style.

I have the same problem as you. I had thick and wavy hair until I decided to get a perm done last year to make it more manageable. But strangely, I am having difficulty in maintaing the straight curly look. I will wash my hair every two weeks and wet maybe twice during the week and the result is like an afro of dry hair. I use the soft sheen carson- wave nouveau products, but I think I am maybe using them wrong. I would appreciate it if someone would lend me a hand please. Cheers! Xx

I had a Wave Nouveau (WN) back in 2002 to 2005. I never had any breakage
problems whatsoever and my hair was healthier than it previously was
on a relaxer. I had done a big chop for my relaxed hair beforehand so
Only my new growth was tested with the Thio chemical. This is key for
avoiding hair breakage and alopecia.

My hair grew extremely fast with WN and I did not experience the
breakage, dryness, and scalp irritation that relaxers gave me. Being
athletic, it also gave me styling ease especially when I swam for

After having it for a while I proceeded to do cellophanes, and semi permanent
color jobs. I also found that if I wrapped my hair and slightly brushed it,
it would temporarily be a semi straight silky look. Sometimes, My hair would look
like a curly damaged mess without curl definition and my stylist Solved this issue
by doing a deep conditioning treatment or using the anti-snap product from
carefree curls which revived my beautiful curls again.

I also experimented and began only applying the phase 1 straightening
Chemical then rinsing off the solution foregoing the second and third
Step of curling hair in rollers and putting the cold wave setting solution.
Using this I was able to achieve a very straight relaxed look with silky strands
Just often wore it in a pony tail without heat curling it for bend or waves.
There was a slight Problem in that after doing this for a few cycles, my hair ceased to achieve
Or take a curl when the cosmetologist tried to process it with the usual two
Step process. It took many months and attempts to get it to take a curly perm again
As it was more permanently straight. Before this, it would easily curl from the double
perm process.
Having been away from WN for almost 10 years, I am looking forward
to cutting away my relaxed hair and returning to it: it's easy maintenance
and my hair did really well on it. I don't intend to saturate it with enormous daily grease,
only just a bit for styling it. I have consulted with an experienced cosmetologist who
assured me that I can just do the straightening part of the process and not proceed to the
second curling Stage and also occasionally flat iron it. This would achieve my needs for
manageable, Healthy Hair that retains its growth and length. I also intend to
Set it on large rollers occasionally for temporary bend or curls. As it grows, I can then
Start doing the double process for a curly look or process the curly perm
using big rollers for looser curl. Also, the stylist can strategically place the rollers
For the curly perm depending on the style I want to wear. However, when the double
straightening and Curly perm process is done your hair is more fragile and weaker and
you have to Baby it more meaning abstaining more from bleaching and heat styling as these
Heap on the damage to hair in a fragile state from the double process.

I hope this helps.

By the way, unlike Jherri curls (e.g. carefree Curl), with a WN, I never
Slept with a shower cap. I also sometimes used low alcohol mousse and oil
as well as a blow dryer volumizer attachment on cool setting to get defined
and voluminous hair some days. Having fine hair, this gave me more volume
and oomph instead of limp curls.
