I started about two weeks ago. Can't really say that I've noticed a big difference. I had to cut back on the fruit I was adding in because I am counting calories and I was getting about 400 per smoothie!

Right now, I use 1 cup of spinach, 1 tsb ground flaxseed, 1/2 cup of strawberries (or one banana) and the juice of one orange.

drinking a green smoothie right now.

1 frozen banana (chopped before freezing)
a handful of frozen blackberries
a handful of frozen raspberries
1/2 red delicious apple
6 red grapes
6 white grapes
2 tbsp ground flaxseed
splash of lemon juice
1 celery stalk
3 handsful baby spinach

I know it's a lit of fruit, but I'm trying to use it before it goes bad (or freezer burn)!

Well, I've read through this entire thread, and you ladies have convinced me to try a green smoothie. I'm gonna go to the store tomorrow and get some spinach and mixed fruits. I hate bananas, though, so I'm gonna leave those out. I hope it'll still be good.

I tried a green smoothie some time ago and I liked it to a point.  I omitted the water, the bananas, and used almond milk.  Is that bad?

I made my first green smoothies this week  I finally got my blender and it's not an expensive one i did not have 400 to spend on a vita mix or blend tec so I did some research on blenders under $50 that can make green smoothies and i got one onsale at Kmart for $22 it's a hamilton beach wave station http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_011W826040110001P?vName=Appliances&cName=Small+Kitchen+Appliances&sName=Blenders+%26+Juicers&keyword=small+kitchen+appliances&prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1 And while it can't do what the top of the line models can do like make super smooth smoothies , it does blend greens as well as raw carrots you just have to use enough liquid. I used baby carrots and they blended up just fine !
I used about
1 1/2 cups frozen chopped spinach
1 frozen banana
1 cup baby carrots
1 cup apple juice
1 cup blueberry yogurt
2 cups ice
it came out pretty good I did have to add some water as it was a little thick !  And I don't know about the not tasting the spinach stuff i tasted it I did not mind but my kids did ! Maybe I used too much ! I have also made one with romaine lettuce and I tasted it too but it was not bad to me !

I am back with my green smoothies. I need to get in shape.

So now I freeze my fruits instead of buying frozen fruits.  I can't wait to see how is going to taste.
