Why are they wrong for telling her that her voice sounds better within the country genre lol? She ain't Prince. Her voice isn't groundbreaking and amazing with genre fusing potential. She can shoot for the moon with that kinda ambition if she wants, but don't expect someone to invest millions into an average country voice singing soul songs.

Okay. I guess it works from a selling standpoint. From an artistic standpoint, I feel it's poison, though. I think there must be a lot of potentially awesome artists falling through the cracks right now. Haven't been turned on by any sound in a long time. Just my opinion though

and WTF is country soul?!?
| Exactly, and Nikki knew good and well the point they were trying to make to this girl. There is a certain level of conforming that will have to take place, they were basically trying to help her cuz she will not make It past the Vegas round talking that country soul mess what always mess up these contestants is them singing some song that's not suited for their voice and style. Why baby her and feed into the bs she was talking after the country judge called her on her comment

How many of the winners are actually still doing ish past their first album though? I would say most of the people from American Idol who are successful weren't even actually people who won.

I never said they were wrong in their opinions. I think they were wrong in trying ot silence and dismiss Nicki's point because it was a perfectly valid point. I never said her voice was groundbreaking in the first place but understand that a lot of the people in the industry that are considered legends would probably have been told they were mediocre if they auditioned on that show because they are only looking for a specific formula. Is Nikki a musical legend? No? Is she incapable of having a valid opinion on someone auditioning in front of her? No. She didn't say anything off the wall but people are going off on her because they don't like who she is. It's not objective.

true...but they have pushed out a lot of successful artists. i don't think they really care as long as the artist is relevant for the year. once the new cycle of AI comes about, it's just time to crank up the conveyor belt again.
But it still shows the power of the show when someone like Scotty McCreery can drop a platinum and gold album.

I think we watched two different clips. No one dismissed her opinion until AFTER she dismissed theirs. She was pouting while they were giving their thoughts, and when it came back around to her, she attacked the judges.
