I didn't enjoy the conversation bc lauryn wasnt really given any respect...everytime she attempted to articulate herself she was interrupted by the motormouth or the mediator. It happens to women in situations like this all the time so I'll pass altogether.

Team Jeru And why didn't anybody check that dumb ass mediator when he said white people judge us by what 1 black person did? He lost the whole debate for their side on that point alone.

Speaking of "knowing yourself"...
The Future of Black History wrote:
F@#K a month, How about Black History forever?
With the possible exception of Donald Orangutan Trump, we're all part of
the same human family. It doesn't matter if you hail from Nigeria,
Mexico, Spain, China, India, Afganistan or West-Bubble- , we are all
human beings. This irrefutable fact would and could only be disputed by
racist idiot's with a superiority agenda. Since I detest debating
established reality, anyone "devolved" enough to argue otherwise, is
welcome to do the, due-diligence..sigh*. Sure we all may look different
but we know how those physical variations occurred. Hotter climate =
darker skin and bushy hair. less heat = lighter skin and straighter
hair etc. #Easybreezy. Besides geography and the environment shaping our
physical characteristics we also have ritualized behaviors, aka culture
and it's idiot-cousin religion. Culture is nothing more than the
established rules/norms, dress, codes, food, language song and dance of
your particular tribe. Religion is simply an exploitative extension of
said cultures. A way for the few to control the many... but I digress. I
understand why people have cultural/ethnic/national pride in their
particular sub-sect of humanity. The need to belong is as germane to the
human experience as any of our biological imperatives. We want to
belong, we want to identify.
"But the Crayola-Gods said!"
I identify as African American and black! My base culture is African
American but my consciousness is black. The difference between the two
is, while African American pertains to my regional, cultural and
nationalistic influences, my blackness is the state of mind that evolved
from my African American culture. Think of it in the same context as
the brain being separate from the mind. The mind is generated by the
brain, one is the computer and the other is the software. If you find
that confusing, try wrapping your head around the Christian concept of,
"The father, the son and the holy spirit!" There was a time during my
journey that these labels bothered me. My African American ethnicity was
always obvious to me, my blackness had to be earned through
self-discovery. FYI did you know that black is not a
color? Conversely white is all colors! Google-God it if you must. "Ahem"
...Moving along.
history correction
The often repeated notion that "Africans sold each other into
slavery" is a historical misnomer. Let me issue this quick-fix so as to
clear things up. Europeans came to the coast of Africa by the thousands
with exotic weapons that Africans had never seen before. For all
intents and purposes, they may as well have been aliens with ray guns. (
Scientific truism: Any technology far in advance of your own is
basically magic ) Although they had superior firepower, the invaders
quickly realized the futility of armed combat against entire African
tribes. In order to achieve a proper foot-hold in the Motherland, the
European's employed guile and subterfuge to trick waring groups.
Africans having initially felt the power of these magic fire-sticks
,were subsequently given the opportunity to obtain a few of their own.
All they had to do was go into the bush and use their new "gifts from
the gods" to bring back their enemies. Sounds legit if you're fighting
anyway, you may as well seize any advantage right. I'm sure Africans had
no idea that eventually they would all be in danger. ( HmmMMMmmM,
sounds a lot like all of the guns flooding our streets today, but once
again I digress ) Hollywood and the history books don't teach you about
the battles in which the so called "white-man" was repelled. They don't
teach you that many tribes joined forces and engaged in massive battles
do they? Of course not! "History is written by the winners of war"
Please check out the video below for more information about this fact!
You're welcome!
I brought this issue up for a number of reasons. For starters, it is
imperative that African American children are finally told the truth.
They won't know what the truth looks like if you yourself don't learn it
first. The fact that the entire history of African resistance has been
omitted from the "His-story" books is an educational abomination that
deserves public attention and correction. It's about time our children
heard the tales of our heroism and bravery. How can we as
parents and elders properly prepare the youth for the future, if they
have only partial knowledge of their past? Secondly, I wanted to remind
black people of the old axiom that "history tends to repeat itself." We
were enslaved once and America prospered because of it. Newsflash: It's happening again,
most of you just don't know it! ( back to that later ) There is
another historical misnomer which is often repeated as a matter of fact.
It is widely accepted that slavery ended with the end of the Civil War
and the Emancipation Proclamation...Also untrue! ( oops, there goes
that pristine Lincoln legacy ) You don't have to watch the
whole documentary now because it's fairly long but I implore you to
watch the first few minutes so that you will understand the context of
what I just said. ( In my Warner Wolf voice ) "Let's go to the video
tape."
Do not ever let someone else tell you YOUR history again. Did I
already mention that "History is written by the winners of war!"
Black suffrage didn't end here though.
The United States Government and it's local municipalities have done
everything in their power to systematically oppress black people since
the minute the first of us ( The Unknown Warrior ) stepped off of the
boat. There are numerous examples of black stratification and systemic
racism that stretch from the beginning of reconstruction until today.
The most widely documented and well known of
these purposeful impediments was the Jim Crow laws. I really don't need
to give adults a history lesson in order to further my point. But what I
will do here is offer up a few important videos which will add further validity to my words.
Understand the past in order to be better prepared for the future -
The story of Black Wall Street part 1.
The Tuskegee Syphilis experiment
The Greensborough 4 -
And Speaking of The Freedom Riders...
Jim Crow
Now that I've got your attention
Call me crazy but I think we should all go out of our way to learn
something new about OUR culture during Black History Month. Other
cultures make it their business to do so. Other cultures practice their
rituals and traditions openly and proudly without fear of ridicule or
shame. We are the only ones tricked in mass to hide who we are. Not only
do these other cultures know their own culture but they oftentimes
learn ours as well. This is something that we should all proudly copy
and practice daily. The problem with this simple idea is that black
culture has been subverted, marginalized and corrupted, but I'm getting
ahead of myself. The black experience in America is totally unique.
Unlike other so called ethnic minorities Africans didn't come here on
the Mayflower. We were kidnapped by the 10's of thousands and dragged
here in chains. Yes I have said these things before and I will briefly
go into them again. Repetition is a necessary component of retention.
The so called Negro in America had several unique impediments that no
other group that immigrated here experienced.
For starters the vast majority of blacks could not hide their physical
features, most notably their skin color. Many of those that were light
enough to pass for caucasian did. This assimilation for survival played a
very large part in the destruction of the black identity. It also added
to the wedge that already existed between dark and light complected
African Americans, which originated during slavery. And before you can
say it, yes Asians had a similar problem but to a much lesser degree.
The difference is no matter how bad it got for Asians and other groups,
they always had their shared language and culture. Blacks in America
were robbed of a common language and a homeland to go back to. Any 5th
grader could tell you that this carefully calculated terrorist tactic is
why black folk do not trust each other to this day. Divide and conquer.
If they can corrupt someone's ability to effectively communicate, then
you can effectively stunt their progress. Changing gears here....
Flash forward to the present
And speaking of Black History month
So did any of you hear about Rapper Lil Wayne's latest idiocy?
This wannabe-minstrel thought it would be funny to reference the late
Emmett Till in a song with another rapper named Future. According to Dr
Boyce Watkins, Wayne mentioned Emmett's name in regard to "Beating up
the P***y" like Emmett Till, or some such tomfoolery. Check out this
related video below for further details...I'll wait.
For those that are unfamiliar with the full story of Emmet Till, click
the Wiki-link. For those of you that do know, click the link anyway and
refresh your memory of the incident. Emmett's mother left his casket
open at the funeral for a reason...I'll wait.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmett_Till
Sidebar to Dr Boyce Watkins
I don't want to waste too much time on Lil Wayne, but some things need
to be communicated and cleared up here. I respect and support Dr Boyce
Watkins on many issues but here I believe he is 100% wrong. Dr Watkins,
can you please stop calling this disrespectful fool a genius! I won't
insult you by asking you if you understand the definition of the word
but brother, you sure do take some extreme liberties with it. Lil Wayne sings songs to our children about drinking cough syrup mixed with alcohol and killing black men.
Prince is a musical genius, Lil Wayne is an overseer for the prison
industrial complex.Lil Wayne's so called music is nothing more than a
brainwashing infomercial enticing young black men to kill each other. Dr
Watkins, for you to link Lil Wayne's name to the late Minister Malcolm X
in any way is frighteningly ridiculous and the very definition
of apologist speech. Lil Wayne is not a genius, Lil Wayne is more like
the Pide Piper leading one black man after another behind bars. The
prison system must love Lil Wayne because Wayne does everything he can
to help the system keep a fresh supply of young, willing, black, men! Dr
Boyce, like I said, I respect a great deal of what you say and commend
you for all of the work that you have done and continue to do, but you
are wrong. My brother, you may not be as much of a rap apologist as your
boy Michael ( I wanna be a rapper ) Eric Dyson, but you sure are coming
awfully close. Dr Watkins I'm not looking to pick a fight with you, I'm
looking to fight for my people and I know you are as well, Peace.
Which brings me to a point I eluded to earlier.
The continued enslavement of Black folk in America
Fact: There are over 2 and a half million Americans in Prison.
That number is greater than any other nation on earth. African
American's comprise approximately 14% of the total U.S population, yet
we somehow account for roughly 40% of the total prison population...Huh?
This scenario does not exist because blacks are morally deficient
or innately incapable of functioning within society. This situation
exists because it is by design! Fact: Caucasian America and
subsequently cooperate America benefitted tremendously from slavery.
America would not be the superpower it is today without the free labor
she got on the backs of millions of black folk. Do you believe "they"
would surrender that FREE wealth willingly? When in history have you
ever seen that happen? The short answer is never! The
near infinite, self sustaining revenue stream that existed from slavery
has now been transformed and transferred to the Prison Industrial
complex. Did you know that many U.S prisons have been purchased by
large conglomerate corporations? That's right, prison is now a for
profit venture, many of which are run by subsidiaries of
publicly traded companies. How the is this even possible? Query: What is the goal of any for profit, publicly traded business? Answer: To make money for its' stockholders and investors. Query:
If jail is now a for profit business then wouldn't said business need
to keep people going to prison in order to turn a profit? I promise you
this sh*t is not rocket science. Here's the thing though that people
don't seem to understand. Yes, chattel slavery in America "officially"
ended but the new slavery is locking up as many Black and Latino men as
possible! Sounds like crazy talk to the uninformed I know. For those of
you not in the know, let me bust your cherry ( metaphorically speaking
) and show you what the U.S. government is really capable of! Watch
this video if you want but if you didn't already know this ( in my
Morpheus from the Matrix voice ) "Welcome...to the real world!" Check it
out below....I'll wait.
How the C.I.A decimated the black community
The Rockefeller drug laws - aka Legal slavery
Todays word of the blog boys and girls is g-e-n-o-c-i-d-e
Cocaine and crack...Same drug different form. Caucasians didn't really
sell crack like that back in the day...we did! Caucasian drug dealers
mainly sold regular powder cocaine. Please tell me why the Government
would make a law that severely penalized a particular people more
harshly for selling one form of the same drug over the other? It
happened because they knew that the absence of jobs + the infusion of
crack + the implementation of the Rockefeller Drug Laws would = SLAVERY!!!
America doesn't give a about African American and Latino men
going to prison! THEY knew that THEY could do this and get away with
it. If you don't think that "they" knew what they were doing then YOU are truly lost!
It's not a conspiracy if it's true!
If you watched the above videos then you know I'm not exaggerating or
lying in the least bit. These are not some silly Alex Jones conspiracy
videos. This is not some imaginary illuminati B.S! This here is real and
it is right in your face! You don't need to create a phony boogie
man organization like the illuminati because the normal system that
already exists is scary enough! First the government crafts specific
laws that directly target you, then they supply the drugs to ensure that
there is a reason for said laws! I just showed you exactly how the U.S
Government via the C.I.A ran a covert drug smuggling ring and flooded
the hood with crack in order to fund a private overseas war. If you're a
real politico, then I'm sure you recognized newly
appointed Secretary of State John Kerry telling you the exact same thing
I just did. I don't want to talk down to my readers because I know that
many of you know this stuff but it was absolutely necessary for those
that didn't know this information to see it in it's proper context.
Which all leads us to this...
The new Slavery has a friend in Hip Hop
What the early
pioneers of Hip Hop planted as an acorn some 35 odd years ago has now
grown into a mighty oak. Hip Hop music and it's accompanying culture
have arguably become the most dominate form of entertainment on the
planet. From the Bronx to Dubai, from the streets to closed door
meetings with Presidents and Kings, Hip Hop has endured. This once
written off genre of street expression has become the leading voice and
info-tainment for black folk across the globe. How sad it is to see what
a slave making sellout this once proud art form has devolved into...You heard me!
While Hip Hop is by no means solely responsible for the negative
aspects of the black community, it sure does a great job providing the
soundtrack for it. I challenge anyone to deny that Hip Hop music and
culture IS responsible at the least for perpetuating and capitalizing off of the negativity in our community.
Remember that mighty oak I spoke of, NEWSFLASH: It's rotting from within.
The N-Word is a Virus
As I have stated numerous times in the past ad nauseum, the N-word
as innocuous as it seems is an incredibly large part of this. Think of
the N-word as a virus. A virus infiltrates the host body, takes over
healthy cells and then replicates itself until the body or host can
produce antibodies to expel it. Although a virus is microscopic and can
move about undetected, it's power can surpass that of any man made
weapon of war. Think of how many people the plague and HIV AIDS have
wiped out. You can't see the N-word virus because it has been rendered
seemingly benign and purpously innocuous by way of Hip Hop culture.
While it may seem harmless trust and believe me when I tell you that it
is rotting not only Hip Hop but subsequently the larger African American
culture from within. No the N-word is not a biological virus, it's a
social and mental virus, one which is having real world biological,
psychological and financial consequences on us all. Query: Why is the N-word pollinated throughout virtually e-v-e-r-y
rap song? The N-word is the single most predominate and important word
in Hip Hop and arguably the larger black culture. Movies, books,
magazines, videos, T.V, and most importantly to the black
community....Music. They took the one thing that is perhaps the most
culturally important to black folk and infected it! The virus is perfect
really. Black people are now so brainwashed that we have been tricked
into not only embracing the N-word but exporting our love for it to the
larger culture. In other words we have been hood-winked into self-
degradation and ultimately re-enslavement.
As stated earlier, the N-word is clearly not the sole cause of the
problems in the black community. To all of my naysayers and detractors, I
KNOW THIS! Query: How is it possible for us to deal with larger
issues and problems ( Like drugs, gangs and joblessness ) if black
people do not have the basic cultural respect and trust for each other?
The answer is you can't! The problem is black people have been so
deviously subverted by this social virus that it has been embedded in
our collective consciousness. How did this happen you ask? How do you
get damn near an entire group of people to gleefully and willfully
accept their own destruction?....You trick them!!! You can't do it all
at once. You make it subtle and palatable. You make people bop their
heads and shake their ass to it, you make the people that they respect
tell em it's cool. To paraphrase Adolf Hitler, "If you want to control
any group or society you must first control the youth." I challenge any
person of prominence in academia, ( Michael Eric, cough, cough, Dyson )
or Hip Hop to publicly dispute this....ANYONE!!! I dare you to come on this blog and make a pro N-word argument! I promise you two things for sure...Defeat and embarrassment!
Why fight entire tribes, when you can trick a few into capturing the many?
Lil Wayne, Chief Keef, Fake-Rick Ross, Wacka Flocka, Two Chainz, Nicky
Minaj and the rest of their ilk have become the new overseers on the
jail-plantation. These black youth vampires are doing everything they
can to perpetuate violence and the hyper sexualization of our children
in the era of HIV AIDS. WTF is wrong with black people that we
would so easily lay down and allow this? I thought my generation was
smarter and tougher than this. The Jews proudly decry "NEVER FORGET" and
have special terms like Anti-Semitic that ensure no public disrespect
can come to them without repercussions. The above named rappers have so
much power in the black community that they could probably all make a
song called f@#$ black people and as long as the beat was hot, many a
black person would dance and sing to it. Can anyone deny this?
....Crickets
At one time people ignorantly believed the Earth was the center of the
universe and flat! People also once believed slavery was
acceptable...All of these beliefs were dead wrong. I beg you my people,
look at the facts and judge the validity of my claims accordingly
because unfortunately...I am not wrong!
If we allow Hip Hop to continue to be co-opted by fake-rappers that
clearly do not have "our" best interest at heart.... we will surely one
day lose it!
Hip Hop is bigger than a few sellout rappers! Hip Hop is an original
art form that started in the streets by young people with nothing but
rhymes and beats. As a people that were smart enough to use music to
communicate in lieu of a language, how the have we now allowed
these few parasites to sell our children and main communication device
down the river? How did we allow our culture to become so estranged
from us? Breakdancing, emcee, DJ scratching, and graffiti. In
case you didn't know it, these are the 4 elements of Hip Hop - If you
ain't about some aspect or positive growth deriving from these 4
elements, then you ain't about Hip Hop!
The future of Black History begins now. One day years from today people
will look back on this era in a historical sense. Those future
generations will either call today's generation the smartest for our
advancements or the dumbest for being taken advantage of in spite of our
advancements. The future of black history is entirely in the hands of
those that occupy the present.

This is why I loved the late 80's and 90's in New York! This is why I fell in love with Rap and Rappers. This is why I hate 90% of the artist today. Where are the ciphers? Where are the conversations concerning our community? Where are the Jerus, Black Thoughts, Laurens, KRS-1s,
Afrika Bambaataas, Talib Kwelis, Mos Defs, just to name a VERY few.
Sorry this just brought me back. Yeah Jeru did that thang. Know your enemy..
