I watch it when I am at a relatives house. Same spin as the rest of the News channels. They also have donation adverts every 15 mins.

Al Jazeera America Stays Mute on Low Ratings

By WSJ Staff

The Al Jazeera America logo seen outside their new television broadcast studio on West 34th Street August 16, 2013 in New York.

Al Jazeera America‘s initial ratings may be weak, but the channel is keeping mute about just how low those numbers are.

Asked to provide some data on the just-launched channel’s initial ratings, a spokeswoman for Al Jazeera America sent Speakeasy a statement that read, in part, “Al Jazeera America is pleased with the response it received from viewers during its launch week. The combination of those who watched our programming on air, those who visited our website and the huge positive buzz that was very evident on social media confirms that there is indeed a significant interest in and demand for the in-depth and unbiased reporting we are providing.”

The channel’s statement skipped over specifics about how many people–or how few–are actually watching.

A report this week from TV Newser said that the channel’s “launch ratings were pretty low by traditional cable news standards.” (And anyone that follows traditional cable knows those standards, especially during a non-presidential election year, can be pretty low.) According to the report, the top rated show on Al Jazeera America last week was the Thursday evening edition of “Real Money with Ali Velshi,” which reportedly attracted just 54,000 total viewers.

An Al Jazeera America spokeswoman declined to comment on specific questions about the ratings numbers for that show and for the channel’s launch.

Al Jazeera America did offer some data about its viewers. According to the channel, the median age of its viewers is 55 years old,  40% have four or more years of college education, and 28% have incomes over $100,000.

The U.S. outpost of the Qatar-headquartered news organization launched in 40 million homes on Aug. 20.

The channel, which replaced the low-rated Current TV,  lost several million households when AT&T Uverse, citing a contract dispute, pulled out the day of its launch.

well the bolded toward the end explains why i never saw the network launch...

way to not even give it a chance.

I like them and I used to watch this African CNN but I got rid of my satellite so I can't get it anymore if it is even still on the air. I also like Euronews for the stuff they report but if you don't like fancy graphics and loud mouths then it isn't for you.
