just keep asking folks, hopefully someone will say yes. also, i agree with tatee. find a time of the day, early sunday  morning (maybe like 6:30- 7  am) when it starts getting light when less people are on the road and just drive short distances. around the block, to the store and each time expand on the the distance until you feel comfortable.

congrats on the new ride! and if you feel that uncertain you should just wait until you find someone. don't want to cause any accidents. and you are in a city where it is more hustle & bustle on the roads.

take a driving class. you are learning how to operate a vehicle not a new gadget. this is not the time to "wing it".

and to add to the fact that you live in NYC is all the more reason to take a class. even the most experienced drivers in NYC get in accidents.

you can teach yourself to drive. i did. i would say to start, just start small. drive around your neighborhood, drive down the street to the store, and things like that. When you get ready to try the freeway, bring someone with you so that you won't be as anxious and you will have another pair of eyes to help you until you get comfortable with blind spots.

if you've already gotten your license, that means you just need to get used to driving again

you should def. take some classes before getting behind the wheel. driving in NYC is probably NOT going to build up your confidence as a driver. Also, there are those split second decisions that you need to make and as a new driver, you won't really know how to react in those situations. having someone teach you whats advisable to do in those situations will probably be helpful.

pay a friend you trust, or a driver's ed school, to help you learn.

Go to the drivers ed school. They always have people to ride in the car with you. Also on the weekend go to a parking lot and practice your parallel parking.

I thought driving a car was like riding a bike. Once you learn you never forget.

I used to practice driving video games. My dad started taking me around quiet neighborhoods or old parking lots after that.

My ma took me one time...omg she's so fuggin dramatic. I don't like for her to ride in the car with me now.
