I was wondering if any of you mix oil or conditioner into your relaxer? and if so which one and why? The next time I relax I want something as a buffer but I don't know which would be better. Any suggestions?

I always add oil to my relaxer - for years!.  It provides conditioning and it slows the relaxing progress.  Beneficial cuz I tex-lax and it gives those looking to fully relax a longer process time than stated on the box without damaging.  I am confident many hair dressers add oil when relaxing their thicker haired clients.

Can you get relaxed strait if you add oil and increase process time or just texlax no matter what the process time?

I may add just a tiny bit of oil... I want strait but not bone strait...

I do not add anything to the relaxer.  I put oil and conditioner directly on my hair, let it dry, then apply relaxer.  I texlax and the results are pretty even.  I guess the results would be pretty similar.

I just wanted to add, when adding a little oil to your relaxer, unless you are going for tex-lax, increase the process time a few more minutes than what is stated on the tub, or you will end up underprocessed....
