Technically, you can't compare your growth rate to mine. You have to compare it to what's normal for you.  The growth rate that I have is accelerated for me.  I've never been this long and my hair has never grown this fast. 


ok.i grow at the average rate(.5 a month) and your growth rate is about the same judging from the pics.my hair now is just a wee bit longer than your 4 month mark pic. that is why i said normal growth. i still dont believe your great results are from the mixture unless you had some type of fungal inhibition or growth spurt. but it will balance out eventually. so that the hair will grow around the 6" mark for a year, more or less.

ive yet to see anyone grow significantly more than 6 inches in a year

I plan to workout again tomorrow and every day in August. Hopefully I can get some extra growth from all the circulation. On lhcf there's a thread about a girl that got almost 2 inches in 6 weeks from working out and eating right. Maybe you have Trichotillomania? (compulsive hair picking resulting in baldness)
 
I have Dermatillomania, (compulsive skin picking... sometimes until bleeding occurs) and the first thing I was told to do was find out what triggers the picking. Once you find out, you can attempt to avoid those triggers.
 
Mine is triggered by stress. Picking somehow gives me comfort.Ouch 
 
Somedays I do better than others. I take it day by day. ('cause I refuse to take meds) I don't even notice I am picking sometimes. Meditation helps greatly. As does keeping my nails short.

Wow!  Sorry about the big delay.  To answer your question, I was taking a heaping tbsp in my breakfast drink in the morning and a heaping tbsp in a hot cup of tea at night.
 
Gotta say, I've stopped taking DE for a bit because someone suggested that DE, being a detoxifier, was voiding the supplements that I was taking.  I don't know if this is true.  Sounds reasonable so, I've decided that I'm spending too much and going thru too much trouble trying to stay consistent with my supplements to have DE take away the benefits.
 
I bought 3 lbs of DE and did get an intitial spurt of about 1/2" in less than a week.  But I'm hearing that after the spurt, things go back to normal.  So, I'm taking a break and may start back periodically to see if I can duplicate the growth spurt and then stop to resume my supplements.
 
I'm new to DE too so, just wanted to share what I've heard and how I'm responding.  It did clean me out (tmi) and stopped my seasonal allergies symptoms so, i believe there's definite benefits. AND, I did get that initial spurt.

I know I am. I wanted MBL, now I'm settling for APL.....at least to get my hair in a ponytail. Certain growth aids aid in growth. Some like Sulfur, MN, Castor Oil and essential oils are anti-inflammatory. If the tissues in our skin aren't functioning properly, it won't do the deed it needs to do. These anti inflammatory substances help repair the skin, aka our scalp so it can grow hair.
 
 
But there are some bogus growth aids I see that Ladies use. Remember, growth aids - ESPECIALLY those containing a lot of carrier oils - run down your hair strand. Which results in the hair strand getting moisturized and sealed. I realized this with all of the growth aids I've tried - before application my hair is oil-free, after 5 or 6 hours my hair is oily, even if I put it in a bun or ponytail.

"Growth aids" do not make the hair grow. Hair growth is a natural function of the body. You can't speed it up by external methods.

The only time "growth aids" make a difference is if they remove a barrier to hair growth (for example, mn clearing up a fungal issue or rogain stopping dht buildup).

All the progress pics I've seen have been normal growth, nothing extra from the supposed growth aid. But people are still going to believe what they want to believe, even though science and experience says otherwise.

Every time I reassess my goals, it's to go longer. I'm not stopping until I have at least 24 inches of hair.

Maybe it's because my hair is naturally thin, but it's gotten easier as it's gotten longer.

    you're so right. I'll give it a better go on the next challenge. Thank God I gained a few pounds and must now lose it the only way I know (low carb dieting and exercising...meaning more protein and veggies, and more water). I know that sounded a lil funny lol!     But, I'll cowash and blowdry tomorrow for my length check.     And I also want to know the science behind topical growth aids. I think I get the anti-fungal property explanation of some of them (like sulfur), but is it possible to have no growth inhibiting fungi/bacteria and still use growth aids that work for you? Before I took topical growth aids, I took biotin, and it worked on me...but I don't have biotin deficiency or close to low levels. It still works. Hmm...

    I use megatek. I have seen thickness but Im not convinced at all of it (or any other product) aiding at growth.     To the comment "Hair grows from within the body, Products ON hair are good pampering.":

    When people say that "hair growth starts inside", I believe them 100%.

    However, when they state that that is the only way to hair growth, I'm kind of skeptical, especially since I use growth aids and from personal experience, I can feel and see the difference. It's like adding Neosporin to a scar (or Proactiv to acne). You aren't taking it internally but you are applying it topically to cure the wound, and it works brilliantly (sometimes as good as internal applications!). Is that a good analogy to the topical growth aid dilemma? To me, it suggests that topical applications could work.

    I don't know if I'm making sense. I'm not a scientist or an expert in hair growth so you can take my words with a grain of salt, but you did ask for what we thought. To each her own! Wink

    when I was in high school we went to an amusement park for our end of the year trip, and a guy wearing braids got sunburned down his parts. try not to manipulate your hair too much, especially if the sunburn hurts!

    SOoooo.... I was watching this video on youtube titled "Growth Aids" There was a women showing of all her growth aids; Mega Tek, Sulu, Claudie's Elixir etc.
    And someone commented below:
    "Hair growth starts INSIDE. Hair is protein grown from within the body. Chicken, vitamins, soybean, beans, nuts, etc. Exercise and plenty of H2O. Massaging ur scalp stimulates blood circulation. UR scalp has a vast blood circulation. Products ON hair are good pampering."

    And that got me thinking....all this ish that we are putting on our scalp, how exactly IS it helping our hair grow?? Yah Yah our scalp absorbs it but I wanna hear what happens after that...the real scientifis ish...
