All I know is if she doesn't get counselling and bottles it up, it might mess her up in the long run. Sometimes you think you can handle it by yourself and before you know it, it's impacting every aspect of your life in ways you could have never foreseen. You don't want to give that kind of power to your attacker. Bad enough he violated your body and your soul but he shouldn't be allowed to destroy the rest of your life. That's all I'm gonna say about that

Encourage her to press charges,talk about it everyday if you have to..Being a rape survior is difficult, you blame yourself for the incident, alot of times other people blame you without ever saying it directly..
You may have to just take her to a support group,and sit through a few meetings with her..

I agree with a lot of what was said already.  Family members and friends are rarely encouraged to come forward on the behalf of survivors of sexual assault.  They often already feel that control is out of their hands in these situations.  Telling or not telling can often be one of the few ways where the survivor still feels some control.  We just encourage loved ones to be supportive.  Ultimately, the person in the situation has to decide for themselves what the next step is.
