when i wore outre velvet remy 
i washed it every 3 weeks and i had no problems 
i used to roller wrap that hair and all

the only thing i didnt like is that it swelled a bit 
but nothing a flat iron or blow dryer couldnt cure

I agree, you should but I would suggest using a gentle shampoo/conditioner combo. I've seen some ppl wash BSS hair and after they wash and dry it tangles really bad for the next few days.
