It may take you a very long time to find out what kind of hair products you like and the right way to take care of your hair.  I wish I could give you the secret ingredient, but there are so many ways to take care of your own hair.


As a quick, very first and basic suggestion, I'd try leaving in a quarter (or slightly larger) size amount of hair conditioner in your hair.  Spread it all over, especially on the ends.  Then rub some type of oil into your hair.  It can be as fancy as coconut or sweet almond oil or as simple as extra virgin olive oil or the cooking oil you have in your kitchen.

Then you can let your hair air dry, pat it off with a clean t-shirt or twist your hair and let dry that way.

Just try those things and see how it works for you.   Most hair care regimens start with these basic steps, with variations on what each person needs.  I've been doing just this to my hair for so long and it works just fine.  Cute every time.

Hi My name is Brittani and last night I literally went into the bathroom and took the scissors and cut off every inch of relaxed hair. I have been getting relaxers since i was about 4 years old and yesterday was my breaking point i am sick of chemical burns the upkeep im over it. Well i dawned on me that hey its cute when its wet but when it dried it was awful. I dont know the first thing about natural hair. Okay, I'm having an information overload! I have chosen to try and transition ONCE again and I don't know where to start! I really don't want to do the big chop because I have been relaxing for so long, I would be close to BALD and I just really don't have the courage to chop so much of my hair off. However, I do plan to cut my hair frequently while I transition. I went for about six months last time and I had major breakage and I just don't know what I was doing wrong. I went for my ends to be trimmed, moisturized frequently, and shampooed every two weeks. Okay, back on topic. My question is where do I begin? My last relaxer was March 14th, and I had a sew in installed the day after. I plan to take out my sew in this weekend to care for my natural hair but where do I begin? To shampoo or co-wash? Hot oil treatment or no hot oil treatment? Deep condition or no deep condition?!! Confused

Clearly, I'm going crazy over here with all this information on the board so someone PLEASE lead me in the right direction and break it down for me!

oh, that would be so great. Basically, my hair has been growing up and it's pretty unmanageable.  I know I have trouble with keeping it conditioned and moisturized but I honestly don't know what to do with it. I basically wear wigs right now and I think it's a shame since my hair is growing now!

This of course may not work for everyone but the way I get rid of frizz is via protein treatments. Big smile

I give myself an intense treatment, let it dry  while its still in my hair with either a blow dryer or hair dryer. It becomes pretty hard afterwards. Tongue

I either rinse it out after, leave it in with a conditioning cap over night, or just leave it in throughout the day to keep my curls defined. When I do eventually wash it out, I let it air dry until its lightly damp, then apply my fav. moisturizer and maybe some eco styler. Smile

The technique I use to apply it makes all the difference. Embarrassed

Wash and Go

I can tell if my hair will be frizzy while its still wet for a wash in go.  In that case, I either use my fingers or a Denman brush to smooth down the frizzy parts individually.  I smooth the curl with the frizzy hair around it.  After the obvious frizz is gone, try not to touch your hair at all while it dries.  If you diffuse, pin down your roots.

Use a small amount of gel before it dries.  If it's still frizzy after it dries, use some curling cream, oil or whatever product you like.

i tried this for moisture and im telling you my hair LOVED IT it was a bit lengrthy but my wash day is a long process anyway i have very thick dense 4a-c hair....idk my porosity though smh i did the test once and got mixed results i need to do it again...anyway this is a great regimen for washing your hair and retaining moisture i didnt have to moisturize for like 4-5 days it was awesome
