You have to curve your tracks up in the front so it falls towards your face. If done correctly it will also conceal the tracks and your braid. If your tracks aren't curved you won't have that effect(unless your leave out is long and you have a lot of hair left out) no matter what your braid pattern is. If the tracks are placed correctly you can do anchor braids on the sides and straight back cornrows and get the same effect. The base around the leave out is in the shave of a V, not a U shape. What you have in your pic is a 2.5 inch U shape base which makes for a flatter install but you can't curl towards the front. You can still achieve the look but you have to be skilled in curling..
