IA although I also do believe plenty of people set their standards high fpr what they want in a partner yet don't live up to those same standards themselves. To me it doesn't make sense for me for some people to feel like they are deserving of someone who treats them like a queen/king when they treat that person like a peasant.

I think it's a two way street. A man who wants a "higher quality" person is going to assert themselves to reach whatever is necessary to be on that person's level (if they're not already).

But at the same time, a woman who sets no standards gets exactly the image she put out - nothing.

You can't "force" a man to do what you want them to, but as a woman if you project an image of "this is what I'm about and I don't settle for less", you're going to get the man who's willing to put in the effort to show that he's not just projecting that image of quality - but IS quality.

I've seen with some of my guy friends that they do whatever they can get away with if the woman doesn't have the good sense to show that she doesn't want to take their crap. Whereas, some of my guy friends have female friends who will never give them the time of day (in a romantic sense) because they don't see anything that impresses them.
