I've seen this all the time too actually. My doc told me that skinnier/more fit women bounce back quicker than women who were already overweight or carrying a few extra pounds. Even if they gained more weight than recommended. Same thing with stretch marks.

she snapped back eventually
i rather get pregnant, lose the weight, and then get pregnant again

i agree. for a woman who wants to go grad school and get married first...kids may not happen until her 30s. 

but i really think its a combination of genes and their physical health at time of pregnancy. I know several women who have babies 35+ and bounced back with no issues. I met a women recently who had her first baby at 41 and she looks great.
