If you have been doing this then I would recommend you give Biotin a try. I'll add a really good youtube review on Biotin for you so you can see if its something you want to give a try:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNlQjN2aBE0
Shes doing updates too so you can see how its going before you try it.
Good luck dear
I would suggest doing mini braids and mini twists as a protective style. I only started doing it, but after a month when I took it down I feel my hair got longer. Maybe I am imagining. But in minibraids, its easier to moisturize and do all your hair needs, especially taking care of your ends.
My BHM sisters said I should cut out the shampoo so I did(their other ways to clean scalp).
You may also be low porosity. You need something to open the cuticle to get moisture in.
HTH!!

    Author: maysay1
Subject: 326649
Posted: Feb 24 2013 at 8:13pm

If your hair grows .5 inches per month, in it 8 months you should have retained 4 inches. So...you're not doing too badly but could be doing better.

My hair is fine (the actual hairs aren't thick/fat...which means not too many cuticle layers). Because I have fewer cuticle layers it doesn't take that many acts of damage to destroy a strand enough for it to break off. Maybe your hair is like mine?

I absolutely have to wear something on my head at night. The friction from one night can cause breakage and after a month I can have a rubbed out spot. I have to be SUPER gentle when I comb. I have to be very careful not to over stretch my hair when wet because doing that a few times will cause breakage (that's also why I use coconut oil, to combat hygral fatigue). I also can't be constantly in my head combing, detangling, moisturizing...all that needs to be done like once a week...certainly not everyday.

For me technique is more important than products. But, for my hair it's important to avoid products that are made with ingredients that are meant to stick to the hair (silicones, polyquats, etc.). Those things build up too easily for me and require strong shampoos to remove which over time degrades my strands. I think that's why I'm partial to Aubrey Organics because they don't have all those ingredients.
