No it is not. The uterus and vagina are back to their normal size at 6 weeks but the body is not completely healed. The postpartum period can take at least 12 weeks. It is recommended that you have pelvic rest for 6 weeks, but the body does not completely heal after carrying a baby for 9 months in just 6 weeks. Your still at risk for hemorraging at 6 weeks. It is not recommended to have a baby for at least another 12-18 weeks mostly because the baby is at risk for being born preterm or developing SIDS. I just completed clinical and L&D course and this issue was discussed.

well becky is right. mine are a almost 2 years apart and my body wasnt even healed from the first one yet. it caused all kinds of pain during my second pregnancy when he started to grow. Cry it was hard to stand sometimes.

I do agree with Becky as far as the possible health risk and it kind of being gross but all women's bodies are different though. Some women bounce back quicker and heal quicker than others after a pregnancy.

i think doctors prefer 2 years between each child but i forgot why. i know that my catholic grandma was having kids back to back like that but she was actually devout... and loved having sex with her husband apparently LOL

ETA, i think this is actually where the term irish twins comes from, because the irish a lot of them being devout catholics, this is a common occurrence.
