I wore wigs until I felt comfortable. This is still my first time wearing my hair short(my first week actually), its shoulder length and I have it have it flat ironed right now. I'm a little nervous about figuring out natural styles once its in its curly state that will last about a week and look good for work. I've done wash and gos on the weekend but I don't know how long they will actually last. I'm kind of excited to see how things go.

Just Bc whenever you feel comfortable and if you feel you ended up bc'ing too soon you can alway try wigs(half wigs or full), braids or weave until you get more length. Good luck deciding

If your get braver you can transition and then BC later on or return to relaxing. Either way you'll have longer stronger hair. I currently stretch my relaxers for 6 months and I'm taking this year to decide whether or not I wanna transition. I wanna reduce my salon time but I'm freaked out about DIY relaxing. My hands are really shaky so it could just end up in a disaster.

From '05 - '10 I was a back to back weave/flw head. Around '06, I stopped relaxing, not because I was considering wearing my hair out, but because it was just a hassle to relax my hair if I was just going to hide it again. So, by default, I went natural. And it wasn't until 2010 that I decided to really start taking care of my hair. At that point, I was around BSL, but half my hair was old, relaxed scraggly ends and the other half was thicker healthy natural hair.

I was too chicken to cut off all the relaxed ends. So, it wasn't until now actually that I 100% got rid of the ends (I went through a texlax phase too which I finally got rid of after taking my marley twists out today) and am now at grazing APL.

Ultimately, it's up to what you're comfy with. I wore short hair my whole life until I was introduced to the world of extensions in college. And now the idea of having anything less than APL is unappealing.

But if managing two textures gets to be too much - especially if the relaxed ends look dramatically thinner than the natural portion of your hair - it might be better to chop them off.
Is it dry, brittle, mushy? Work that out first then if your having any issues resolve them with the necessary tools and products.

Then with that at out of the way what do YOU want for your hair really? It's easy to say I will be natural but not understanding why or for what reasons you are deciding to take that route is something to consider. Everyone wants the best for their and to be happy so I suggest looking into hair forums, youtube, friends who are already natural, anything that is natural hair related to get a better perspective on things. You may then decide it's not for you and decide to go back relaxed but make sure you take the right steps to prepare for all the chemicals again and there are plenty of outlets also catered to the relaxed/texlaxed heads out there.

Whatever you decide it's all on you in the end lifes to short you gotta do YOU, always!

I had it in my head to transition for two years after watching a youtuber with the best post transition BC ever. However, I got tooo itchy. I had long hair and just kept doing mini chops until.... I had to do it. I wished I had the balls to do it earlier (I actually think it grew quciker after I chopped) or had the patience to transition for longer.

This does not help

I Just feel you and the confusion that you feel. Felt it too.

BTW Even though I love my natural hair like I have never loved my hair before, Im still not that comfortable with the lack of length - having said that every time that I take down my braids I can't stop grinning about the growth.

Good luck!
