college is high school with more freedom and a bigger campus
and i agree with elohim, regurgitate the information and make it sound nice. professors just like to hear themselves talk and want to make sure you listened/agree with what they had to say

The criteria in the OP should have had me failing college. BUT, my major is...not hard. It's work, but it isnt hard. In my case, it doesnt matter what my math grades were in highschool, or what I made on the SAT. I am not a math, english or science major so I find that the only thing I really carried over from highschool is work ethic...and how to write essays. That should be a criteria for college readiness. I don't know how I would have made it through freshman year had I not known how to properly write essays.

The ACT has determined that nearly 60% of students are unprepared for college, and that a great deal will either have to take remedial courses or will enter majors that don't require college-level math, reading or writing.
And naturally, there are so many other factors to determine a student's preparedness and potential success.
