Then I went down to medium well and medium

I can't do that burnt well done anymore...

oh it means he's a risk taker? I don't know about that, but the lottery example in OP does apply to him. When we joined our 401K eons ago, he was much more into the risky investments that showed long term profit (20 year). I was thinking more of a quick turnaround. If I did eat steak I would have to have it well well well done, so I guess that example is right. lol

medium to medium well.  I like my medium well to be pink though so I really want medium but worry that my medium will end up too rare at certain restaurants.

Have yall noticed they will almost burn your steak if you tell them well done? I've had that happen a few times... I don't really even like steak but I've been taken there

hub used to eat them rare if he cooked it himself. I don't think he trusted that in a restaurant though. You have to make sure it was cooked at a certain temp and I guess you can't be sure of that  in a restaurant.
