I may watch once the movie goes to DVD. My grandmother , mother , and aunts all pick cotton by force . I have a difficult time watching slave movies in 2013 . I have enough info for a lifetime . I will share everything i know with my daughter in the future .

Nope didn't see it and don't plan on it. I don't know why folks feel it's necessary to keep making slave movies. We get the point now move on!

I feel the same way. Do we need constant reminders of all the bs we endured? What is the goal of the director? To make us see it in a different light? For entertainment purposes only? Is there something that we don't know about it? IJS. I have seen enough slave movies. And really all they do for me is make resent white people.

I haven't. But I still don't get the 500lbs of cotton in the title. Is that something that happened in the movie?

I can't wait to see it. And after seeing all their white mates I don't feel bad that my viewing will most likely be online.

i'm supporting it for the simple fact that a black man made it.  Like Spike said....we need to be the one to tell our stories. *shrugs*
