When I was poor I used to love those 10 cent pot-pies. Country poor sounds pretty nice actual. I would have loved to trade tending to some pigs than ducking down on the floor while some ass was doing a drive-by.

when my cousin's and I were younger...we were poor...we just didn't know it.  It was only when we got older and thought about our childhood and the things that went on...then we realized we were poor.

I agree.

This was a very good write up - it should be published somewhere.

I realize I have a poor people money mentality. Even though I know I should, I can't save for sh*t.
And I've overdrafted once and got that cleared before the day was out. That $35 is too damn much.
I didn't grow up "poor" though. Broke, but never really worried about having my needs met.

lol so true!
Gah, my mum was always a bulk buyer though. We're still finding stored up toilet paper and dish soap in the loft and seller. "2 for 1??!!!" *sweeps whole aisle into trolley*

Living in German I learned that ravioli is poor people food to them. Disapprove
I loved to eat it

Good article!  I grew up poor, but we were never hungry and we were always clean. I won't even lie.  There were days when the lights were off, or the hot water, but we learned to work with it.

Now I have all my bills on auto pay. And I horde money.  That  ish was traumatizing! Ouch
